A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess.

When this book was published, it was met with an uproar in the UK and even more reacted in the U.S. The book follows a teenage bandit and his gang of no-goods. Pervasive violence and crime are what motivates the main character as he discovers himself- and who he is the reader will find frightening.

The book also introduced a pidgin language of it's own, and a catchy narrative for those who can stomach the violent themes. The book was made into a movie in 1973.
