Bones to Ashes by Kathy Reichs

Kendra's Comments: I have only seen the television show Bones a couple of times. A co-worker recommended this book, and she was really enthusiastic about it, so I decided to give it a try. I really liked it! The story draws you in. I got very interested in the background of the characters, and will definitely read more books in this series to quench my curiosity.

For those unfamiliar with Bones, the book is about a woman Temperance Brennan. She is a forensic anthropologist who finds out the identity of skeletons. I know, sounds creepy - but it's really not gross or gory at all. The intrigue is all around the mystery of finding out who the missing people are and what happened to them. The characters are complex and engaging.

I will probably watch the show now that I am hooked on the books, or maybe I won't. I am always disappointed in movies that come from books, so I might read the series first and then decide. If you like mysteries with a little bit of romance (not the gooey kind, but more realistic stuff) give this book a shot.

I have read several books by this author and have enjoyed them all. She really keeps you on the edge of your seat! Also, she has a great sense of dry humor that makes me laugh while reading about a crime scene investigation. It makes the "dark" part of this type of story a little easier to take. Highly recommended!

Bert,
I agree with you entirely. The book was great. Do you watch the show?

When the original CSI came out, I was addicted. I then fell out of love with it, which is why I have decided to pace myself with these books. I can't handle too much of a good thing. Emotional overload is an issue here.
