One book to check out might be John Grisham’s Playing for Pizza (check status at GPL). This book is a quick, easy read. I enjoyed this story as much for the funny and elaborate character descriptions as for the actual story. The book is essentially about a mediocre professional football player who is injured, and has to figure out what to do with his life. While facing few options, he finds himself in Italy playing football for an unknown team and falls in love with football again along the way.
There will be a free Tailgate Party here at GPL on September 12 at 6pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. You might wonder - what happens at a library tailgate party? Well, you would be surprised at the amount of fun that can be jammed into a free night of fun starting at 6:00pm. Our children’s department will have football themed crafts for the kids. The teen librarian has come up with interactive games for kids and teens (with prizes for the winners, of course!). We will also have inflatable fun for kids and teens. Raffles and give-ways will take place right before the free outdoor showing of Remember the Titans at dusk (approximately 8pm). St. Francis Sports Medicine will have free flexibility screenings for all. Archers will have hog roast dinners available for purchase. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Picnic baskets welcome. Heartfelt thanks go out to our generous sponsors: Friends of Greenwood Public Library, St. Francis Sports Medicine, Old National Bank, Indiana American Water, Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home and Nestle Water. Starlight Movie Nights would not be possible without their support.
