Over a thousand years ago, an alien vessel crashed into the ocean releasing an alien who goes exploring in the ocean and shape shifts into a great white shark, eventually forgetting where it came from. Fast forward to the year 2019, when an ancient artifact is found buried in 40 feet of sand in a trench seven miles deep off the coast of Samoa. Admiral Jack Haliburton approaches Russell Sutton, a world renowned marine engineer, to raise this mysterious and impenetrable artifact. The story then goes back to 1931, when this creature decides to come out of the water after becoming intrigued with life on land and shape shifts into a human to study the species, and we learn there is another unrelated, dangerous shape shifting alien who is leading a parallel path in history up to 2019. When this artifact is finally brought to surface in 2019, it attracts both of their attentions. Just who have these aliens shape shifted into? Who is the vessel really calling?
